Find out how to set up compulsory two-step verification, and how to manage your 2SV settings in myIR.
What is two-step verification?
2SV is a form of multi-factor authentication and has been introduced in myIR to add an extra layer of security. This means you’ll need to provide a unique security code each time you log into myIR unless you are logging in with a passkey. Even if someone knows your password, they cannot log in without a 2nd form of verification.
Setting up two-step verification in myIR
When you are first prompted to set up two-step verification, follow the onscreen steps in myIR. You can select your verification method from the following options:
- Passkey
- Authenticator app
- Text message.
You can set up more than 1 verification method for added flexibility. This means if you cannot get the security code from 1 method, you can use another.
Find more information on how to add, remove or update these methods of verification.
Manage two-step verification in myIR
Log into myIR with two-step verification
When you log in to myIR you’ll need to enter the 6-digit security code unless you're logging in with passkey. Enter the security code sent to you by your chosen method.
If you have more than 1 verification method set up, you only need to enter 1 code.
To receive a security code by a different method, on the two-step verification page select 'Choose another two-step verification option' and then select the option you want to use.
If you enter the wrong security code too many times, you'll have to wait at least 15 minutes before trying to log in again. You’ll be sent a new code each time you log in.
Trust this device
When you enter your security code to log in to myIR, you can also choose ‘Trust this device’. This means for 90 days you may not need to enter a security code the next time you log in using the same browser on that device.
