Unable to file your income tax return by the due date

We have simplified requesting an extension of time with a new ‘Apply for extension of time’ feature in myIR.

To access the request go to ‘More’ in your Income tax account then select ‘Apply for extension of time’. Select the extension reason and the extension date you commit to filing your return by from a preset list.

After you submit it, we’ll send you a notice with the outcome within 15 working days.

Tax owing

The due date for paying any tax owing remains the same. The extension of time is for the return filing date only.
