The environmental restoration scheme is used as some business activities cause environmental damage. It allows businesses to set aside money to cover future environmental restoration costs.

The following activities qualify for the scheme if your business is putting aside money to spend on them in future years, and if they are not part of your regular business.

  • Testing
  • Construction
  • Restoration
  • Monitoring
  • Dredging, if your main reason is to fix or reduce environmental damage from a discharged contaminant.

Activities that are not included

The following activities do not qualify for the scheme.

  • Reclaiming land.
  • Dredging, unless your main reason is to fix or reduce environmental damage from a discharged contaminant.
  • Buying or acquiring land.
