Labour weekend temporary system shutdown | We're completing a system update over Labour weekend. Find out more: Temporary shutdown for system updates - Labour weekend 2024

We are updating our tax and social policy system over Labour weekend. myIR, our phone services including self-service options, and gateway services will not be available from 5pm Friday 25 October 2024 through to 8am Tuesday 29 October 2024.

Shutdown dates

We will close for the full 3 days over the Labour weekend, from 5pm, Friday 25 October 2024.

Our services are planned to re-open from 8am, Tuesday 29 October 2024. We’ll let you know when our online services are available as it could possibly be ahead of the planned time.

Payments

Working for Families and Child Support payments will be paid on the usual days. The payment dates remain Tuesday 29th or Wednesday 30th October.

Return filing

You can file early any returns that are due on or over the temporary closure. This shutdown period includes the regular 28 October GST due date. Because 28 October falls on a public holiday, this due date is automatically moved to the next business day, 29 October.

Drafts in myIR

As part of our update, we will not delete saved drafts in myIR. Any saved drafts will be available as normal after the shutdown.

Key changes

You will see some key changes in myIR when services are resumed.

Viewing letters

Opening letters in myIR will now appear in the current screen, instead of in a separate pop-up window. This will mean fewer pop-up errors and better security as the documents will no longer automatically download to the device being used.

Logging in with a passkey

myIR will now support users logging in with a passkey. This uses the authentication process (fingerprint, face ID or screenlock) of a device (mobile or computer and so on) to grant access to websites.

The passkey created will be specific to the myIR logon for which it is set up.

Unsubscribing from emails

We will now include a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer of all emails you can unsubscribe from. We are also adding a new option to ‘Manage my email subscription preferences’ in myIR. This will allow you to select a group or groups of emails and unsubscribe from them.

Note: You cannot unsubscribe from all emails, such as notifications that payments are due.
