Cancel your child support formula assessment, voluntary agreement or court order by following these steps.

Only the receiving carer can cancel, but if the child lives with more than one person (for at least 5 days a fortnight), all carers must agree to cancel.

The easiest way to cancel is in myIR.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • the name of the paying (liable) parent
  • the date you want child support to stop.

In myIR, go to your Child support - Receiving carer panel

Then select 'More...'

Select the right option

Choose ‘Child no longer qualifies’ to cancel for an individual child.

Choose ‘Cancel your child support group’ to cancel for all children in your care that a paying parent pays you for. For example, if your ex-partner pays you child support for 3 children you have together.

Fill in the details and submit

Log in to myIR

You can fill out the Cancelling your child support - IR107 form below.

You can:

  • fill it out on your computer, save it, then print it
  • print it then fill it out by hand.

If you do not put a stop date on the form, or if you put a date that is before we receive the form, we’ll cancel your child support:

  • for formula assessments, from the day we received your cancellation form
  • for voluntary agreements, from the day before we received your cancellation form.

You can also tell us on the form if you do not want to receive any child support payments still owed to you.

Check you've included the right information and any documents we need. Sign the form and send your documents to us at:

What happens next

We may get in touch with you to confirm a few details.

We'll cancel your child support from the date you give us on the form, or if you do not give us a date, the date we got your cancellation request.

If you do not want us to collect any money still owed to you, you'll need to fill out a separate form in myIR.

Write off child support owed to you

My responsibilities

If you're getting the Unsupported Child's Benefit for a child, you cannot cancel for child support for that child.

If you cancel your child support, you’ll need to reapply if you would like payments to start again.

If you have asked us not to collect certain child support payments by writing them off, you cannot later ask us to collect them. If you change your mind and would like the payments collected, you need to go to the Family Court.
