For New Zealand foreign trusts (NZFT), the contact trustee or tax agent may need to pay fees for their:
- registration
- annual returns.
Paying NZFT fees in myIR
If you're registering an NZFT or submitting its annual return in myIR, you'll be able to pay either:
- during these processes
- from the myIR homepage, select 'More...' on your New Zealand foreign trust account, then 'Make a payment'.
From there, you'll have the option to pay using either:
- a credit or debit card
- direct debit.
If you want to pay using internet banking, make sure you read about how to do that specifically for NZFTs. You'll need to give us a few more details, depending on your situation.
Paying NZFT fees using internet banking
You can pay using your New Zealand bank’s website or app for internet banking. This is sometimes called a bank transfer or direct credit payment.
If you're registering an NZFT or submitting its annual return using paper forms, you'll need to use this way of paying the fee.

When you make these types of payments, we recommend using the 'pay tax' function provided by most New Zealand banks - there is no fee for this service.
Payment details
Make sure you include the following details when making NZFT payments to us through internet banking.

For this type of payment, you do not need to include the time period in the payee code.
Using internet banking to make a single payment for multiple NZFTs
If you pay on behalf of many NZFTs, you may be eligible to use a multi-payment option. This allows you to make a single payment for multiple customer accounts.
If you're interested in this option, send us a message in myIR. We'll see if you're eligible and help you set this up.
