Te tuku utunga tika atu ki taku pūtea KiwiSaver Making payments directly to my KiwiSaver provider

What
Voluntary contributions to your KiwiSaver account.
When
You can make additional contributions towards your KiwiSaver account at any time.
Rate
The current interest rate on contributions after tax is 1.22%

You can make payments to your KiwiSaver account voluntarily at any time. You may want to top up to get more of the government contribution. Once you've made a voluntary payment it's locked in until you're eligible to withdraw your savings (currently 65).

You can make voluntary payments directly to:

  • your scheme provider (preferred method as this avoids additional transfer time)
  • us with the ‘Pay tax’ function offered by most New Zealand banks.

In the first 3 months after you join KiwiSaver

If you have not chosen a KiwiSaver scheme, any extra contributions you make need to be paid through us in your first 3 months.

We'll pay interest on these contributions. The interest rate is currently 1.22% after tax.

The tax is deducted before the interest is paid into your account - it becomes exempt income for tax purposes. The interest will be paid to your scheme provider along with your contributions.
