You need to submit your donation receipts to claim your donation tax credit. The easiest way to do this is in myIR.

If you do not have myIR, you can submit your receipts using the Tax credit claim form – IR526. You can find this form by clicking ‘Other ways to do this’ below.

Before you begin

Check that you’re registered for donation tax credits. If ‘Donation tax credit’ is not an option on your myIR home page, you can register by clicking ‘I want to...’ and then ‘Register for donation tax credit’.

You’ll need:

  • the name of the approved organisation you donated to
  • their IRD number and charity number, if you have them
  • the type of donation
  • the date of the receipt (not the date you are submitting the receipt)
  • the amount of the donation.

You’ll also need to check that the organisation is on our approved list of donee organisations and that your receipts meet all of the requirements.
