Follow these steps to tell us about any change to your or your child's details that might affect your child support.
Before you start
Log in to your myIR account, if you have one.
The easiest way to update your details is in myIR, but you can also call us or write to us. Our contact details are at the end of the page.
Go to your child support account in myIR
You'll find this on the homepage of your myIR account. It will say either 'Receiving carer' or 'Liable parent' (paying parent).
Then from the child support account panel, click 'More...'
Go to 'Child support change of circumstances'
Choose your change type
You can update any of the following details.
- If you've got back together with the person you pay child support to or receive it from.
- Children who are leaving your care or who are no longer qualifying children.
- Your dependent children.
- Changes to ongoing living arrangements (recognised care).
- Any other changes you need to tell us about.
Follow the prompts to submit your update
Log in to myIR
If you do not have myIR, you can call us or fill in a Change of circumstances - IR116 form.
Sign the form and send it to us at:

Make sure to attach any documents needed to support your completed form.
What happens next
If your payments change, we will send you a letter showing your new yearly and monthly entitlement or child support to pay. If you're registered for myIR, you'll get this online, otherwise we'll send it to you by post.
