About objections

Before you start

Before you object to a decision, you'll need:

  • to check your contact details are up to date in myIR.

You'll also need to give us:

  • the reasons or grounds for objecting, selecting them from a list in the form
  • any evidence to support your objection.

In myIR, go to your child support panel

Select 'More...'

Select 'Object to a child support decision or assessment'

Fill out the form and submit it to us

If your objection is late (more than 28 days), tell us why on the form.

Remember to include any evidence you have to support your objection.

Call us or email us if the reason for your objection is not on the form. Our contact details are under 'Other ways to do this'.

Log in to myIR

You can also fill out the Notice of objection – child support – IR119 form online or on paper.

What happens next

If you already pay child support, you need to keep paying until you hear from us.

After we get your objection, we'll review the reasons you've given on your form. We'll then contact you with our decision and any further options you may have.

My responsibilities

As a child support customer you always need to:

  • tell us about changes
  • check your information
  • tell us if something is wrong.
